Great keyboard

Great keyboard, with very good key feedback. I really like how rigid the keyboard body is. If I go back to my previous keyboard the difference is quite stark. The Keychron K5 is just much, much better. The flashy lights keep my 5 year old son entertained.

Good keyboard

I love the feeling of the keyboard; it is a joy to type on. I dislike that the keycaps are not shine-through. I bought the RGB version and it is almost like a waste because you still can't see the keys in complete darkness despite the RGB backlight. I just keep it turned off because it is useless. I tried to buy the shine-through keycaps but they have not been available since I have been checking for two weeks.

Great Keyboard, Long Delivery Time, Worth the Wait

The keyboard is great as what you would expect, My configuration is the gateron low profile linear (red). Like all mechanical keyboards the keys are load compared to high end laptop used for work but as quiet as you are going to get. Best way to describe it would be a little quieter then a cheap microsoft keyboard. The feel to touch is great and you can notice the premium feel to it, the pressure to activate the keys is light (around 50 grams) and the travel to active the action is between 1mm to 2mm. However, bottoming out the keys is similar to a regular mechnical keyboard, this is my only issue with the keyboard and it is my fault for not looking into this before hand . I personally was looking for a mechanical keyboard similar to a laptop style key travel but this is a personal preference.
I plan to hold on to the keyboard even though the total key travel is higher then expected (really its only 1mm to 3mm extra), it is a great product, quality is high at the lower end of the scale on price and very few products have a low profile keyboard. I have not done the Key Mapping just yet but its nice to have as some symbol is in the wrong location (come to you in US configuration). The lights are bright at night but not noticeable during the day (where I use the keyboard most). Battery life, is going strong for 20days of usage (lights are off due to daytime usage).
It would have been nice to order the Keychron switches as these are lighter, less travel and optical (less moving part) so in theory should last longer, however these seem to be in very high demand and always out of stock. Remember this is only a keyboard, you won't be blown away or it won't change your life, its just a very good keyboard.

Overall, Great keyboard, premium feel and quality, quiet for mechanical keyboards, far cheaper then the Amazon markup making it so its worth the wait.

Great keyboard

Delivery to the UK was quick considering it was from China, I think about 9 days in total, and no customs issues. Got the brown switches because wanted something that's tactile but also won't wake up my neighbours, and this really delivered on this front. I can type really accurately and quick on this keyboard, would buy again. One thing that could be better, is the keys should be see-through, since lacking that it defeats the point of the backlight. On the other hand, if you're a touch typist you won't care too much about this.

Best keyboard I ever owned

For me this keyboard (white LED, brown switches) hits the sweet spot of responsiveness and positive touch without extended key travel. The overall design is compact, minimal and not too high. Build quality seems excellent. It's the customisation with VIA that really sells it to me though: slightly more long-winded than it should be until Github approves the model, but very effective once you are in. The backlighting seems a bit pointless without shine-through keys, but turned off the battery life is good. I wish Keychron would make individual keycaps available in different colours: there are one or two I'd like to highlight differently, but it's hardly worth buying a complete set. Also it would be good for UK customers if a [£] keycap was available. Other than that (and you only have to remember that Shift-3 = £) I have found no difficulty in adapting to an ANSI keyboard. NB that it's only the RGB option that has hot-swappable switches. I'd have preferred this for serviceability.

Program with QMK & VIA.

QMK/VIA means endless possibilities for a fluid workflow. Thanks to our engineering team, it's the first time in history that a wireless mechanical keyboard has these kinds of capabilities right out of the box.

Simply connect the K5 Pro to your device with a cable, drag and drop your favorite keys or macro commands to remap any key you want on any system (macOS, Windows, or Linux).

Check out the video above demonstrating how to remap the F16 key (located on the K5 Pro’s top right corner) to an Eject key with the VIA software, so you can get a shortcut to put your Mac to sleep (Command-Option-Eject), or even remap the fn key in a breeze. It’s never been so intuitive and flexible to personalize your own keymap.

An ultra-low-power ARM Cortex-M4 32-bit STM32L432 MCU which is powerful, and equipped with 128K Flash will provide more flexibility for developers.

Get the keymap working on VIA

Since the VIA code for the K5 Pro is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and import the K5 Pro keymap.

Please download the keymap JSON file below. Connect your keyboard and device with the provided cable, and toggle the switch to cable mode. Open VIA, click on the "Show Design tab" on the "Settings" tab, and drag the JSON file into the “Design” tab on VIA to get the K5 Pro keymap working on VIA.
